Top 5 Plus Size Workwear Skirts

It is blue Monday, the first Monday back to work after the winter holidays. We hope you have had a fantastic break and managed to snuggle down and rest up ready for all that 2017 brings. While everywhere is on sale and there is a slight lacking in new inspiration we thought we would turn our attention to the less fun wardrobe. Our workwear wardrobe. Plus size workwear has come along way in the last decade. Despite media ideas, plus size women do work and we like to look good whilst doing it. So over the week we have rounded up our favourite plus size workwear pieces to hopefully give your wardrobe a bit of a boost and make returning to the daily grind a little less sad. We kick off with our favourite five plus size skirts to wear to work. Linked in the piece. Happy shopping!

simply be plus size workwear wrap skirtWrap Front Pencil Skirt – Simply Be £22

As we head into spring we will be looking for brighter hues to lighten the mood. This gorgeous pinky brown hue, gives a nod to a much warmer climate – it gives us Morocco vibes since you asked – and the side, wrap buckle detailing gives this pencil skirt a fresh and more modern age. We love this terracotta shade because it works perfectly with black in the winter but works equally well with a crisp white shirt when the sun is out. A great all year purchase. Team with heels or boots.

plus size pinstripe workwear City Chic pinstripe skirt – Evans £50

If the fashion powers above are to be believed then the eighties are back in a major way this year and that means that it is legitimately a true and on trend fashion statement to finally re-embrace the banished pinstripe. There is something super chic and ‘city’ (no pun intended honestly) about this style and whether you dress it down with a sweater or go the whole way with a shirt, this is a great little work look. Viva la plus size pinstripe.

asos curve plus size pleated skirtASOS Curve pleated midi skirt – ASOS £30

We know a pencil skirt is seen as the traditional look for work, the kind of ‘female version’ of a pant suit but let’s be honest the pencil skirt is not for every shape and so this pretty but smart, pleated, fuller skirt is a great alternative and especially if you’re looking for something that goes to more a calf length. Again this can be kept really simple with a round neck top, sweater or shirt and would even work well teamed with a blazer if you feel you need to be more formal.

elie tahari plus size designer fashion macs workwearTahari ASL plus size metallic boucle, a-line skirt – Macy’s

The holidays might be over but we still don’t mind flashing a subtle metallic for the sake of fashion. This gorgeous pencil skirt from designer brand Tahari really does have those designer hallmarks. A chic A-line shape (so more movement than a pencil but still slim fit) this skirt really gives us Armani vibes and for us Armani is the king pin of workwear. So if we can even nod to that in plus size, we are totally going there. Want to make it more formal? This would work with a block colour blazer too.

And for those of you that feel we have kept it all too narrow so far, then this is for you. A fishtail again has those eighties hallmarks so this is not just comfortable to wear, it has some trend validity too. For those looking for something longer but still formal for workwear this plus size black skirt is a great option. Fishtails look fantastic with boots too perfect for wearing right now.
