Titanic Spa Review – Mini Breaks

Now it is no secret that team SLiNK absolutely love a mini break. But more than a mini break, we love a Spa! And while the full review of the Titanic Spa is heading into our March issue, we loved it so much we wanted to share it with you right away! Especially if you’re looking for a great Christmas gift still – or if you are *gasp* already pondering Valentines day presents.

titanic_int-180Titanic spa is set in an old factory and on first arrival in the leafy surroundings of West Yorkshire, Huddersfield, the UK’s first established Eco-Spa in the country isn’t much to look at. But as we’ve been taught, never judge a factory building but its looks, its what’s inside that truly counts.

titanic_int-190Titanic spa is perfect for short breaks – a full spa day or overnight stay is perfect – although if you have time for two nights, the accommodation, which are apartments rather than hotel style rooms are so lovely and self contained that we definitely would want to stay for two nights rather than just one, which didn’t feel quite enough. titanic_int-186-editThe apartments are self contained and we had a huge lounge / dining room, two separate bedrooms and two bathrooms and a full, working kitchen. The soft toned decor matched the relaxing nature of the spa and while most spa’s we’ve been too have been ‘hotel’ style, the apartment made this trip feel like a home away from home.

titanic_int-102-editThe spa itself is delightful.

There is a fantastic relaxation room – one of the best we’ve been too. That includes lounging bays and a beanbag pit (yes a bean bag pit) and is the perfect place for a snooze after a treatment.

titanic_int-79There is an outdoor hot tub – which despite the chilly and grey weather we took full advantage of and it was definitely a treat to be outside.

There is a large pool, perfect for those who like a dip and a gym (but as we were on a break we simply watched other people sweat as we relaxed on loungers round the pool).
titanic_int-30We actually spent most of our time in the brilliant ‘Heat and Ice’ experience – which includes tropical showers, foot spas and a range of sauna and steam style rooms. The spa was quite bustling even though we went during the week but there was plenty of space for everyone to enjoy the various experiences.

titanic_int-2We also opted for an hour long Elemis massage which was absolute heaven and ensured we were perfectly relaxed – this teamed with the fact that you get to wear a big dressing gown over your swimsuit is basically the recipe for perfect bliss.

All meals are taken care of and as we arrived at lunch time we had a quick bite to eat (before we hit the spa) from the set menu – the cost of dining is included in your stay so there is no need to worry about extra hidden costs! The same applied for dinner and breakfast is a hamper that is left in your apartment on arrival.

Having had such a relaxing day we thought we would check out The Titanic Spa’s bar and to be honest, from previous spa experiences we didn’t expect much – although we were happy to be proven wrong, with a bar with fresh and modern decor that felt more Soho than Yorkshire. Drinks were extremely reasonable and there was a great selection of cocktails. Predictably – as we had been warned – our spa-ing along with our massage meant that after one drink, we were, slightly jolly and retired to our gorgeous apartment for a well deserved rest.

If you’re from the local area you can definitely visit the spa on a spa day and it is the perfect place to go with friends, families or partners as it has a warm and friendly vibe. If you’re travelling from further afield we would recommend a one or two night trip – or like us you can do a one night trip and then head off to another part of Yorkshire for a bit of sight seeing!

So the big test – would we go back to The Titanic Spa – in a heartbeat. With day packages starting at £75pp and some fantastic overnight package deals we not only loved the experience but we also felt it was great value for money. There are vouchers available too. So if you’re still struggling for the perfect Christmas gift, why not gift someone some relaxing time out with a trip to this fantastic Yorkshire Spa.
