Post having their first ever plus size winner in the form of Ashley Nell Tipton it seems that Project Runway has really embraced inclusivity and diversity. In previous years contestants have openly shown disdain on the elective weeks where they have had to dress ‘non model’ or non standard model shapes and sizes and for the most part, the fashion show has accepted this as just the way designers are. But now, in line with the success of plus size models at NYFW, with the likes of Prabal Gurung and Christian Siriano using plus size models on the runway last season, Project Runway will be including plus size models regularly throughout the season as standard and ex SLiNKette, Liris Cross, is one of the chosen models!
We are so happy for Liris who has been modelling for plus size brands for several years to have such a huge platform to work on. Crosse hopes that Project Runway will encourage more up and coming design students to look at plus size as an option and embrace size diversity in fashion. We couldn’t agree more!
