If you were in the San Diego area, thank you for tuning in to Channel 8 Morning Extra as we walked you through how to get the latest NYFW runway looks the real way. Last week, I had the pleasure of taking in many of the shows as designers debuted their Spring 2019 collections, and I’m going to give you a sneak peek of the best pieces you can buy now to get the look. (everything in this article was shown in the TV segment. To see how I styled the looks, please check our Instagram).

The CW San Diego – News 8

1. Bold Brights – especially Yellow!
This NYFW, bright colors and bold patterns ruled the runway, but almost every designer showed something yellow.
Yellow – from dark marigold to neon chartreuse – will be the color for Spring. Inspired  by the Oscar de la Renta marigold fly-away maxi, I put our straight size model in a split leg yellow jumpsuit from Vilover that will cost you less than $30!
Eloquii has plenty of yellow items in the full range of shades so you can infuse some of the “it color” into your wardrobe. Though it was not shown, Forever 21 has a great button-front yellow maxi that will be on-trend for spring and also under $30
Alice+Olivia showed a lot of fun yellows, lilac, and florals but we particularly liked the colorful striped skirt and silk top combo. To make this runway look more suitable for a date or a luncheon, I put the similar colorful striped Eloquii skirt with a silk blouse from new plus size brand, Maree Pour Toi and layered a Forever 21 bralette underneath to pull out the chartreuse accents in the skirt.

2. Silky Silhouettes

Silks were also a big trend.
Phillip Lim, Maria Cornejo and a few others showed a lot of charmuese silk.
You can pair the washable silk blouse from new brand Maree Pour Toi with white trousers for a sharp Phillip Lim look but here I am mixing trends and putting it with the bold skirt.
3. Artistic florals
Bold florals and pattern mixes are a must for spring but can be a bit intimidating to put together if you are not used to wearing them. The Petallica dress Eloquii already mixes geometrics and florals and is an excellent way to steal the look that was all over Michael Kors’ runway, Mash ups like florals and leopard – and Christian Siriano showed leopard in his spring collection – so a lot of the things that are on trend for fall are also going to be good for next year! These looks can be worn to brunch, toughened up with a leather jacket and boots for fall or even dressed up for a spring wedding.
4. Structured ruffles and strong shoulders

Lastly, I have a take on Christian Siriano. He and Marc Jacobs both showed a lot of structured ruffles and Eloquii has a perfect structural LBD which I will be pairing with an actual Siriano handbag. He is known for making statements on the runway and being the most inclusive which is why things emblazoned with People are People has become his signature. The actual runway piece is under $200 and one of his only affordable things. This look would be great for a night out.
