It is weird to think that I entered the fashion industry not realising it could change. That SLiNK would be in the midst and part of the change, but most importantly that the industry I loved even though it signified rejection of me at its very core would evolve into something much more than fashion, a movement.
While fashion week kicks off next week, it is definitely time to celebrate the site that has the tag line… ‘The Runway Edited, Sizes 10 to 20’. Enter 11 Honoré, the latest plus size offering that is bridging that missing designer gap in the plus size fashion market. While of course there are several diffusion lines in the US and the likes of Navabi offer high end plus size fashion lines, 11 Honoré goes one step further and literally edits the catwalk and then offers you those must have pieces, in your size, from the designers you never knew would even dress you.
Describing themselves as…
“A size-inclusive shopping site that for the first time ever, gives more women the option to experience the best designer clothing and celebrate and honor their bodies, beauty and style”.
Founded by Patrick Herning and Kathryn Retzer, who between them have FOUR DECADES of experience in fashion, the pair are getting ready to disrupt the industry with their savvy brand building, marketing and editorial skills.
11 Honoré sell brands in US size 10-20 (UK 14-24) and so bridge that gap between ‘inbetweenie’ and ‘plus’ but before what some consider ‘extended sizes’. – why is shopping so complicated!
11 Honoré concentrate on a more luxury end of the market, selling designer and brand fashion such as Marchesa, Zac Posen, Christian Siriano, Prabal Gurung and Monique Luillier; alongside more independent designer brands and more affordable price points from Badgley Mischka.
If you’re still wondering why this is revolutionary – well to be honest we always assumed that the likes of Zac Posen would never make a size 20 dress – but he does!
And 11 Honoré is breaking down those barriers and ripping up the rule book with a site that gives those plus size women who want designer dresses, who have the occasion for a $2000 red carpet look a possibility.
They are taking fashion fantasy and making it a reality and in 2017 that is a truly magical thing.
Here are our 3 most obsessed with pieces:
This dress, this beautiful, runway dress from Christian Siriano.
We saw it in the show and here it is as a reality in US sizes 10 to 20.
Ruched velvet gives such incredible texture and catches the light amazingly and the ruching flatters curves perfectly.
