Summer Wedding Style Tips for Fashionable Guests

With the summer wedding season almost upon us, it is time to start thinking about your outfits. No doubt, you have a raft of invites sitting on the kitchen counter, so you don’t want to leave it until the last minute before you select a suitable outfit. In fact, if you are dealing with a Bridezilla, you might have a list of do’s and don’ts already. To help you make the right fashion choices and avoid being edited out of the wedding photo highlights on social media, here are some style tips.

Wedding Venue

Before you hit the stores, check out the wedding venue. This is more important than you think, as there is a big difference between Hudson Valley wedding venues and a simple backyard affair. For the former, you will need to wear a classy, yet stylish outfit, and for the latter, the dress code will be more relaxed. The venue should be mentioned on the invite, but if in doubt, ask the bride. If there is a dress code, this should be listed in the invite, too.

A Floral Theme

Floaty, floral designs are enormously popular this year. Since the weather should hopefully be hot and sunny, the last thing you need is to sit sweating buckets in an outfit made from thick fabric. Instead, look for a dress made from a pretty, floaty floral fabric that protects you from the sun while keeping you cool. Seal the deal with a pair of strappy heels or wedge sandals.

Midi Dress

A midi dress is a good choice for a summer wedding. As any wedding guest knows, you should never try to upstage the bride, so anything that shows flesh or is too revealing is off the cards. A sleeveless midi dress will show off your arms but it sits just above ankle height, so it is suitably demure. Look for funky patterns and bright florals and team with a pair of cute sandals.

Lace Dress

Lace is very much on-trend this season, and you can’t go too far wrong with a cute lace dress (unless it’s white, of course). A knee-length lace cocktail dress with three-quarter length sleeves will take you from ceremony to reception with the greatest of ease. For a more relaxed look, opt for an off-the-shoulder full-length lace dress. This will look super cute with some pretty, ethnic slipper sandals and a wide-brim floppy hat.

Embroidered Dress

Embroidery is another hot trend this year. If you are skilled with a needle, embellish an existing dress and give it a whole new look. Otherwise, invest in a pretty, embroidered sundress and accessories with some gorgeous shoes and jewelry.

Wrap Dress

Wrap dresses are easy to wear and perfect for summer weddings. Plain colors look great with a piece of statement jewelry, but if you want to stand out, wow the other guests with a bold print maxi wrap dress.

Jumpsuit

For the first time jumpsuits have been accepted by Royal Ascot officials as appropriate attire, which definitely gives them the seal of approval for a wedding this summer. The plus size market has really embraced jumpsuits and so that means there are plenty of options on offer to offer great style and fantastic fit.

Dare to be different this summer and pick an outfit that looks fabulous on camera. As long as it isn’t white or too revealing, you are sure to stand out for all the right reasons.
