Go Greener this Year

The growth in eco-friendly fashion has been huge over the past five years and it isn’t just our clothing lines that are looking to take account of their actions. There are lots of companies paying greater attention to their carbon footprint and we can definitely follow suit with our own choices too. It isn’t just about buying organic – which can be pretty pricey. There are lots of changes you changes you can make that wont break the bank – in fact they might save you some money too and you’ll be helping to save the planet – win – win!

There are lots of different ways that you can make your lifestyle greener and if you have a young family, it can be a great way of learning about the environment together. Lets take a look at some of the changes that can be introduced to everyday lifestyle:

Go Paperless –If you are not already a fully paperless household then are there some changes that you can make to ensure that you are? Get all of your bank and utility bills set up on paperless options, some companies even offer discounts if you are prepared to switch over. Going paperless to handle your finances online also helps you to better manage your finances. Having everything in one place and being able to view your statements on a real-time basis online will keep a better track of record than a paper statement that you receive on a weekly basis.

Do you really need any more reasons to go paperless? If those benefits aren’t enough then how about being able to clear out all your old papers and making lots of extra space? You can scan old records/documents and store them on your PC rather than having untidy, fire hazardous collections of paper. We realise it is terrifying going paper free but think about all the extra space you’ll create.

Carpool – Carpooling is becoming increasingly popular for people looking to save money by sharing a cab. This is also a green-friendly option for travel, so if you get the chance have a go at carpool and save money and the planet at the same time. There are lots of companies like Ridester.com that offer car-pooling services. You might even make some new pals!

Get a Bike

Cycling is becoming increasingly popular and more and more cycle lanes have been provided to ensure it is a safe form of travel. Cycling is not only a mode of transport, but it is also a great way to stay fit. By having the incentive of getting to a destination that you need to go to, it is more achievable than saying that you will go on a bike ride and then when it looks a bit cloudy, deciding to jump in the car instead. It will also save you on petrol and of course help save our wonderful planet.
