What this man can’t do with a sequin isn’t worth knowing. When you attend a Julien Macdonald show you expect 3 things… Glamour, Celebrities and Sequins and this season was no different. The glam factor was on high and amongst the wet haired and shiny bodied models was enough glitz for all Christmas’s at once.
There was a definite ‘Gladiator / Grecian’ theme happening here, both through the pattern of the embellishment and the gorgeous little grecian boots worn by both male and female models.
Male models wore silky, Grecian print box tees and shorts and kimono jackets while the girls were treated to a host of dresses from mini to gown length both fully and partially sequinned. The swirl, Roman-esque patterns in muted coppers, silver, gold and monochrome kept this a very succinct collection rich in style and embellishment accented by flashes of colour in red, orange, yellow and blue hues, while sheer panelling was used to emphasise the bead work and reveal snippets of skin, a must in any Julien Macdonald gown. Julien has a particular way of framing the bust and revealing just enough skin to be daring without veering to too much and the slashed necklines and delicate scallop details along the plunging V-necks were beautiful. We particularly loved the body suit with the sequin tasseled shoulders and the finale dress, a fitted jumpsuit with a skirt like train in a white and silver brocade.
A collection of incredible dresses, fashion dreams and sequin fantasy.
